Earlsferry and Elie Golf Heritage

The Full Story

About

This site is dedicated to the game of golf and its development at Earlsferry and then Elie starting in 16th Century.

Elie and Earlsferry are contiguous small villages on the north coast of the Firth of Forth in the County of Fife.  Fife is a county on the east of Scotland sandwiched between the firths of Tay on the north and Forth in the south.  It is a county with a rich and long history, having at one time been the seat of the Scottish kings.  A piece of waste ground belonging to the residents of Earlsferry was used for a rudimentary golf course.  This is the story of the development from a "cabbage" patch to a first class test of golf on the shores of the Firth of Forth.
